The City of Deerfield Beach, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), AARP Florida, and over 70 volunteers helped redesign NE 3rd Avenue between Sample Road and NE 44th Street during a 4-day installation held December 8 – 11, 2021. The improvements aim to increase safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and drivers during their commute. This temporary redesign will transform NE 3rd Avenue for six months, at a lower cost than permanent improvements.
The quick-build project will now be evaluated to see what works and where there is the opportunity for improvement for a future, long-term solution to the street. Pedestrian and bicyclist counts are being collected during this time to evaluate the use of the corridor, as well as speed data.
A survey is also being conducted to collect feedback from the community. To access the survey and provide your feedback, visit https://arcg.is/00aGa0.
Feedback can also be submitted by contacting the City’s Planning & Zoning Division at 954-480-4206 or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The installation was undertaken with the generous support of AARP Florida through its Community Challenge grant program.
