The City of Deerfield Beach intends to apply to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) for a Community Development Block Grant-Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) allocation in the amount $244,579. The grant will be used to fund public service activities in support of the City's effort to prepare for, prevent, and respond to the health and economic impacts of COVID-19. The proposed activities, estimated cost, and percentage benefit to low-and moderate-income persons, are as follows:

The Ready2Work Rapid Credentialing program will provide an estimated 123 Deerfield Beach residents who are unemployed and underemployed due to COVID-19 with the opportunity to enroll in an in-demand, high-quality workforce program to get critical skills in essential and emerging careers.
The Senior Technology program will provide tablets to seniors sheltering in place at home to help them stay connected and engaged in educational, recreational, and physical programs and activities during COVID-19.
The Elderly Meals program will provide an estimated 850 healthy meals to seniors at the City's Active Aging facility and elderly housing communities twice a week based on the number of registered participants.
A public hearing to obtain citizens' input about the application and proposed CDBG-CV activities will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Hillsboro Community Center, 50 Hillsboro Technology Drive, Deerfield Beach, Florida 33441. Interested citizens and organizations are encouraged to attend.
Citizens can submit written comments about the application and proposed activities to Jonathan Salas, Assistant Director of Community Services, at firstname.lastname@example.org. A copy of the application will be made available for review at the City Clerk's Office in City Hall. The application will be submitted to DEO by November 1, 2021.
