Parks & Recreation
Update 6/8/20: Several parks have reopened from dawn to dusk daily for walking, running, skating, cycling, or general exercise, as generally permitted at the park. Community Centers, the Sullivan Park splash pad and athletic fields remain closed until further notice.
Since 1925, the City of Deerfield Beach Parks and Recreation Department has been vital to the quality of life of our community and residents. Today, the Department is comprised of seven divisions that include: Administration, Recreation, Athletics, Aquatics, Waterfront Operations, Park Maintenance and Cemetery.
Our residents enjoy over 470 acres of parks, nature preserves, green spaces, medians, right-of-ways, and our two (2) municipal cemeteries. Deerfield Beach offers its residents over 50 park locations ranging in size from large regional parks, neighborhood parks and multiple smaller pocket parks that are located throughout the City. Our residents can visit and enjoy over twenty (20) playgrounds, tot-lots, outdoor basketball courts and tennis courts located throughout our park system.
Our recreation facilities and complexes include: 4 Community Centers, a Teen Center, a Tennis Center, Gymnasium, Aquatics Center and Athletic Complex. The department also operates and maintains our mile-long Blue Wave Award winning beach and 976-foot International Fishing Pier.
We offer a wide variety of recreation and athletic programs throughout the year for residents of all ages, interests and abilities. Recreation programs include numerous special interest classes, after school programs and multiple summer camps. Additional recreational, social and cultural programs are available at our community centers.
The department sponsors a wide variety of special events throughout the year including the annual Festival of the Arts, Fourth of July Celebration, Ocean Brews and Blues, Pioneer Days, Boots on the Beach, MLK Weekend Celebration, and other beach events and concerts, plus other year-round holiday-themed events.
