Due to the growing health concerns associated to COVID-19, the City of Deerfield Beach Parks and Recreation Department is disappointed to announce the cancelation of the 2020 Women's History Brunch.

Join us as we celebrate the influential women of Deerfield Beach who have served as role models, demonstrated a commitment to the City and invested time, talent and resources to make a difference.

Ceremony Information
Come out for a delicious brunch buffet and entertainment as we honor these most deserving individuals! Tickets may be purchased at the Johnnie Tigner, Sr. Community Center at the Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex.

Keynote Speaker - Tamara James


Tamara James grew up in Dania Beach and went to South Broward High School. James won 3 state championships where she was named the Most Valuable Player in each Championship. South Broward High School High School retired her jersey in 2007. 

Tamara played college basketball at the University of Miami where she is the all-time leading scorer for both men & women with 2,406 points. James is a Hall of Famer and her jersey was retired in 2010. In 2006, James was selected in the 1st round, 6th overall pick pick by the Washington Mystics of the WNBA. 

Now as a City of Dania Beach commissioner, James returned to her hometown of Dania Beach where she ran for local elected office and served as the City's youngest Mayor in Broward oldest city. Now as a Commissioner, James is responsible for adding policies that fight discrimination, renourish the beach, promote homeownership by helping create an affordable housing program and help create many local jobs. James was recently inducted into the Broward County Hall of Fame joining many greats in this amazing accomplishment.
