In 1999 the City of Deerfield Beach established a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). The CRA was tasked with utilizing tax increment financing (TIF) to creatively partner with the private sector to increase investment in the CRA district as well as upgrade the area’s public infrastructure. Burying of all overhead utilities; repaving roadway; installation of mast-arm traffic signals, paver sidewalks, bike lanes, new street furniture and lighting; increased landscaping; signage

Ocean Way Streetscape
Boundaries:
Ocean Way from Int’l Fishing Pier south to SE 4th St.
Details:
Installation of paver-brick sidewalk; new public showers, sitting walls, decorative lighting, bike lane and sidewalk on west side of roadway

North Boardwalk Extension

Installation of brick paver sidewalks, curbing and bollards
Details: Construction of an elevated thoroughfare over the Florida Turnpike to link Wiles Rd. (Coral Springs/Coconut Creek) to Green Road in Deerfield Beach
Project Cost: County Project
Status: At-grade roadway improvements have already been made west of the Turnpike
Dixie Highway Flyover
Details: Elevated highway connecting Boca Raton to Deerfield Beach over the FEC Railroad and Hillsboro Canal
Project Cost: $27,000,000 Right of way acquisition is nearly complete
Status: Funded for 2009 start
Linear Park Improvements
Details: City is actively seeking lakefront land for construction of linear parks. Goal is to link western Deerfield Beach to the east.
Status: Over 3,000 linear feet along Powerline Rd. already functioning as park
Property owners and interested parties are invited to participate in this meeting to learn about the evaluation of improvement alternatives proposed to SR A1A.

The successful Sign of Relief program has been extended through February 28, 2010. Deerfield Beach businesses feeling the strain of the economy can now apply to take advantage of this relaxation of the city's sign ordinance.
