In 1999 the City of Deerfield Beach established a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). The CRA was tasked with utilizing tax increment financing (TIF) to creatively partner with the private sector to increase investment in the CRA district as well as upgrade the area’s public infrastructure. Boundaries:

Burying of all overhead utilities; repaving roadway; installation of mast-arm traffic signals, paver sidewalks, bike lanes, new street furniture and lighting; increased landscaping; signage

$7,000,000

Final design/engineering phase- construction to begin in 2006

Wiles Rd. to Green Rd. Bridge Over Turnpike

Details:  Construction of an elevated thoroughfare over the Florida   Turnpike to link Wiles Rd. (Coral Springs/Coconut Creek) to Green Road in Deerfield Beach

Project Cost:  County Project

Status:  At-grade roadway improvements have already been made west of the Turnpike

 

 

Dixie Highway Flyover

Details: Elevated highway connecting Boca Raton to Deerfield Beach over the FEC Railroad and Hillsboro Canal

Project Cost:  $27,000,000 Right of way acquisition is nearly complete

Status: Funded for 2009 start

 

 

Linear Park Improvements

Details:  City is actively seeking lakefront land for construction of linear parks. Goal is to link western Deerfield Beach to the east.

Status: Over 3,000 linear feet along Powerline Rd. already functioning as park
