D4 News

Hello friends and neighbors,

Recently, the City was informed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) of the commencement of a two year PD&E study regarding possible changes to the Turnpike at S.W. 10th Street.

This study is not a complete surprise. It was briefly discussed during the Community Oversight Advisory Team (COAT) meetings regarding 10th Street. What is a surprise is that the scope of the project extends just east of the Powerline Road intersection. This detail was downplayed during the COAT meetings. This has the potential to have a significant impact on our city. Our participation and input is very important.

Even if you do not live directly on S.W. 10th Street, your community will likely be impacted due to increased and diverted traffic.

The Public Kick-off meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel, Golf Club and Convention Center, Grand Ballroom located at 11775 Heron Bay Boulevard, Coral Springs, Florida. The meeting kick-off will begin with an informal open house from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. In the event that the Public Kick-off meeting cannot be held on November 15th due to severe weather or unforeseen conditions, it will be held on the alternate date of Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the same time and place.

I have requested that future meetings on this project are to be held in Deerfield Beach. City staff will work with FDOT to secure a location.

Have a good week,

Bill Ganz
Commissioner
