Hello friends and neighbors,
I hope you have had a wonderful week! We are beginning to get busy with our event season, so I have quite a bit to tell you about.
First, I want to invite you to our 2nd Annual Fall Festival on October 15th. I've included the details of that event in the list of events below.
Coming up this weekend, is an event that is near and dear to my heart, the 20th Annual Dunn's Run to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. This fundraiser has a direct impact on our local club here in Deerfield Beach. It is taking place on Sunday, October 2nd at 7:30AM in the Main Beach Parking Lot, 149 SE 21st Ave. Grab your running shoes and your family to come out for a day of exercise and fun with a 5K or 5 mile run/walk or you can join the crowds in cheering on the runners!
Also, here are the following road closures that will take place from 7:00AM - 12:00PM for the event:
- Closing of SR 5 (Federal Highway) northbound from SE 10th St. to SR 810 (Hillsboro Blvd.).
- Closing of SR 810 (Hillsboro Blvd) eastbound and westbound from SR 5 (Federal Highway) to A1A
- A1A and Ocean Way is closed from NE 2nd St. to SE 9th St.
Friends I want to remind you that you can now find me on Twitter @DFB_D4Ganz. You can tweet your questions or send me a direct message. If social media isn't your thing just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a safe & happy weekend,

Deerfield Beach Does it Again!
The City of Deerfield Beach is excited to announce that the City's beach has once again received Blue Wave certification. The City is one of six beaches in Broward County that has received the certification! In order to receive this distinction, the Clean Beach Coalition has a list of requirements that must be met and then it is determined by the Clean Beaches Council of Washington, DC that the city meets the high standards for Blue Wave certification.
We ask that you continue to help keep our beach clean, safe and user friendly especially when discarding cigarette butts!
Help Available for Energy & Wind Upgrades to Your Property
City of Deerfield Beach residents and business owners now have a new option for financing energy efficiency or wind resilient upgrades on their property.
In June, the Broward County board of Commissioners approved a countywide Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program, providing an innovative form of financing for clean energy and resilience improvements for residential and commercial property owners across the county. The City of Deerfield Beach Commission voted to opt-in to the Broward County PACE Program, authorizing all County-approved providers to operate within Deerfield Beach jurisdictional boundaries.
PACE is a financing mechanism that allows property owners to voluntarily make qualifying improvements on their property, with repayment through a non-ad valorem special assessment added to their property tax bill.
Most products that can be permanently affixed to a property and reduce on-site electric use, assist in wind resistance, and/or produce onsite electricity are eligible for funding. Qualifying improvements include: rooftop solar panels, solar water heater, wind turbine, energy efficient air conditioning unit, cool roof, window replacement, impact windows, insulation, and more.
The program is now live for Deerfield Beach property owners through the two approved providers: Renew Financial and Ygrene. Broward County is currently in negotiations with two additional PACE providers.
To get started, interested parties are encouraged to review the Program Guidelines for all approved providers. Like any financial decision, participants should review all available financing alternatives to ensure they are choosing the best option for their own personal financial situation. It is also highly recommended that property owners perform a comprehensive energy audit on their property before committing to any qualifying improvements.

Deerfield Beach Unplugged
The City of Deerfield Beach is excited to announce that it continues to take great strides when it comes to enhancing its use of technology by offering a City App to its residents and visitors.
"InsideDFB" is now available for free on the Apple and Google app stores. Residents can access everything from city news and events, calendars even the new underwater camera from a mobile device.
With this new technology comes a couple of cutting edge features as well. The first feature is the Alert center, which is where anyone can sign up to receive alerts about canceled events or a delay in garbage and recycling pick-up. The next feature is called "Fix It" and it offers residents an opportunity to report anything in Deerfield Beach that needs to be repaired or cleaned up. With "Fix It" residents can snap a photo of a pothole, vandalism or whatever needs to be reported and send that from a mobile device, with the location and brief description of the problem, directly to the City Manager's office. These enhanced features are also available on the newly upgraded City Website.
The City recently modernized its website in order to improve functionality and efficiency for anyone who logs on to search for information. This, just months after completing its social media platform. You can find the City of Deerfield Beach on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
We also want to remind residents and visitors that they can now log onto www.deerfieldbeachshop.com to purchase city branded souvenirs like hats, t-shirts and more without ever setting foot into the new Pier shop. Deerfield Beach is the only south Florida municipality to have an e-commerce website that promotes the city brand. We encourage residents and visitors to download "InsideDFB" on their mobile devices, visit us online at www.DFB.City or check us out on social media. Don't forget to use the hashtags: #DFB or #LoveDFB. Join us in moving the City forward by staying up-to-date with the latest news, events and information. Who says government is boring?
