DNA Labs International, a Deerfield Beach based private forensic DNA laboratory with 33 employees, announced the addition of 10 new advanced industry, high wage jobs. This projected job creation has qualified DNA Labs for a tax incentive of $30,000.
Earlier this week, the Company received a Certification Letter from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) informing them of the determination of eligibility for the award. After the company enters into an agreement with DEO, the City of Deerfield Beach and the State of Florida will jointly pay the $30,000 Qualified Target Industry or QTI tax refund - with $6,000 contributed by the City of Deerfield Beach and the balance of $24,000 coming from the State of Florida. The incentive will be paid over four years starting in 2020 after the jobs are created and verified by the State.
This incentive facilitates a company that will be creating a minimum of 10 high-skill/high-wage jobs with an average wage of $55,990 (115% of the private sector average wage in Broward County) and the retention of 33 existing employees in Broward County along with capturing a $7.5M capital investment, while ensuring the company would not be lost to a competitor state where the company has growing market share.
“We’re thrilled that DNA Labs International has chosen to expand its operation in Deerfield Beach. We look forward to the company’s continued success in Broward County,” said Bob Swindell, President & CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance – the organization that spearheaded the recommendation of this project to the State.
“DNA Labs is a fine example of a highly successful woman owned business. They have contracts with the Federal and other State governments as well as law enforcement jurisdictions across the country, as they expand, so will the awareness of the City of Deerfield Beach as a destination for business”, remarked Vice Mayor Gloria J. Battle about this City Commission District 2 business.
“Deerfield Beach is a rare gem for businesses: the proximity to the interstate makes it easy for our local clients to find us, the nearby beach is an appealing asset to attract employees, and the city commission and city employees are actively seeking ways to make Deerfield Beach a business-friendly place to be,” said Kirsten Charlson – Founder and President of DNA Labs International.
