Deerfield Beach Annual Black Heritage Banquet

The City of Deerfield Beach Parks and Recreation Department would like to invite you to join us for the Annual Black Heritage Banquet which will be held at the Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex in the Dr. Leo J. Robb, Jr. Memorial Gymnasium, 435 SW 2nd St., on Saturday, February 24th starting at 7:00pm (doors open at 6 pm).

This year we are proud to announce our special guest & keynote speaker, Benjamin Dixon. Benjamin Dixon is an American progressive political commentator and author. He is the co-host of Like it Or Not -- an afternoon news and headlines broadcast. Benjamin also hosts the Benjamin Dixon show -- a daily, call-in, radio show. He is a former pastor with over sixteen years of ministry experience. Dixon holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics and a Masters of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations.

As part of the program we will also be recognizing and “Saluting Hometown Heroes” in the following categories: Business Professional, Community Service, Educator, Athletic Role Model and Community Organization as well as the Emmanuel Knowles Humanitarian Award.


Come out for a delicious soul food buffet and live entertainment as we honor these most deserving individuals…you’ll be sure to enjoy yourself! Tickets may be purchased at the Johnny Tigner, Sr. Community Center at Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex for $30.00. It is recommended that guests wear African attire; however, it is not required.
